Cathodic Protection Electrode

The Cathodic protection reference electrode is used in conjunction with a Boat meter and is connected to the Negative (Black) terminal. The red terminal is connected to the Boat Hull via a 5 metre Cable and a crocodile clip to measure the potential of any Hull, drive, propeller or metal component in contact with the water.

The Cathodic protection electrode is a silver silver chloride reference electrode and is used in conjunction with a Boat meter and is connected to the Negative (Black) terminal. The red terminal is connected to the Boat Hull via a 5 metre Cable and a crocodile clip to measure the potential of any Hull, drive, propeller or metal component in contact with the water.

The Silver Silver Chloride Reference electrode can also be used to measure the REDOX or corrosion potential of water. Here the RED terminal is connected to the Platinum REDOX electrode and both electrodes placed in the water being measured.

This electrode is waterproof and comes with a 5 Metre low resistance Coaxial cable with a 4mm Banana plug connector. It can be completely submerged whilst making measurements however it is often wise to keep the very top portion of the Electrode above the surface to avoid loss or damage through snagging on submerged objects.

For best results place the reference electrode close to the Cable connection point on the Boat Hull (hull potential) or as close as possible to the Platinum REDOX electrode in the water. ( Water potential stray dc )

The electrode has a protective cap and is stored wet. The solution inside the cap is Potassium Chloride solution which should be replenished.
